You can choose the necessary edges and extrude out. It works.

Thanks, yes, I can select and edge and then use the extrude command to freely define the extrusion distance in 2D.
Nevertheless maybe a solid dot like the one in the attached image would be useful for directly extrude freely in 2D

drag the 2d waffle and then hold ctrl to extrude in 2d.

Thanks, yes, clicking first in the 2D waffle, then clicking on the ctrl and after that dragging works but it’s kind of complicated to get it going …
