WISH : automatic tiling of Rhino and GH windows

Yes. What I see is that if I push the Rhino window on the edge of the screen, Windows now includes the GH window as one of the tiles to fill the other half of the screen with.
It’s a first step…
But 3D mouse integration to pan and zoom fluently on the canvas would be a real treat.

I do like how this works and plan on making it at least an option in the grasshopper preferences if not the default.

I don’t really know what is required for 3d mouse integration. This may be something that 3dconnexion would need to add to their driver, but that is only a guess.

Riccardo managed to do this with some kind of hack but it is using up too much resources.

Me neither. I just know it’s been working fairly well with Rhino for over 15 years.
So regarding integration with GH, I’d say…you’re the one with “McNeel” written on the T-shirt…

Rhino is shipped with the integration of the 3d connexion mouse, or better, this is what i assume.
With NO 3dconnexion driver installed, and plugging one the first time ever on a machine with rhino opened, it works.
The left button opens this useful popup:

If you install the official 3dconnexion driver, you lose this popup… I never install it.

I guess some guy inside McNeel did study the 3dconn sdk/api and implemented it correctly.

Just my assumptions.

3dconnexion writes the driver that we ship. We will need to work with them to see what can be done.

Hi @nathanletwory I wonder how to achieve this correctly.

With fancy zones, hold shift+drag works for Rhino, but not grasshopper.

I even tried overwrite the snape function, and use win+<>, still works for rhino but not grasshopper.

Hi @stevebaer

Any updates on this or is it still being considered as a Grasshopper preference?
Would be a nice feature!

This is native window management in windows 11. Just drag one window to the screen edge and choose the other window when prompted. Then you can drag the bar between them.

It’s paid, but I’m really enjoying an app on windows called display fusion. I use about 1% of the features, but it has a function that allows you to bind programs to predetermined positions with your own shortcuts. Super handy for multiple screen setups.

100% would love to see native 3d mouse function in grasshopper too!!!

This is just on by default on Windows and has been for about 5 years now.
