Wirecut through a solid, in the shape of a flanged plate, will force the cut object to split at its creases or tangents. If I use boolen difference to cut through the flanged plate, it does not force a split. I have to disable creasesplitting prior to running any wirecut commands to preserve the part that I want. Then re-enable creasesplitting after the wirecut command. It happens with an open or closed cutting curve.

This has been an issue since rhino 8 was released. Maybe I can give it attention again.

This was created in the latest rhino wip.

Is there a reason you want Crease splitting on all the time? The command does look at Crease splitting global variable.

WireCut is splitting tangent edges.

Reproduce: extrude an L-shaped profile (flange + web). The inside and outside corners where they meet are tangent arcs — smooth edges, not creases. WireCut that solid.

Expected: tangent arcs stay unsplit.
Actual: the result is split along both tangent arcs.

Workaround: I disable crease splitting prior to wirecut to avoid the unwanted splits.

There was a time in the past where wirecut did not automatically split like this. If the current behavior is as intended then that’s fine, I suspected it wasn’t.

Sorry, I am a bit slow. I understand your instructions, but need to look closer at the structure of the flange web object.

On my tests I am having trouble getting the correctly split and not split objects to show the differences.

Maybe this can help us.
