Hello,
I am a beginner with Rhino (using rhino v8) and working through the tutorial Link
At the end of the precision modeling part - designing a screwdriver - I got something different than the tutorial suggested. The wirecut tool left me with an open surface/solid, which I do not know how to fix or what I did wrong in the process.
I am happy to hear some suggestions or get some help.
Thank you
This actually looks like it should work, it may be you stumbled on a bug here, I get different results in V7 and V8, something with the intersection is weird. Have to go out now but later will investigate further.
Edit - OK, found it - it’s not a bug, there are two hard to see errors in your original curve, the curve is self intersecting because you probably clicked twice in the same spot which put one control point stacked on top of another. That made what Rhino still calls a valid closed surface, but actually it is not good.
I eliminated both of the double control points and re-revolved your object and it now wirecuts fine. I would join the two red lines before the Wirecut.
