Are we soon going to get option to export layouts to individual pdfs and name them according to layout name or file name + layout name?
Is it a plan for v8?

@ivan.galik try the TestPDFExport command in this weeks WIP. It might hold you over until we get the proper UI in place. And feel free to discuss any special needs you may want when exporting multiple pdfs in terms of the naming options etc.
Hi,
I dont see anything different to standard print dialog with that command.
In general there is not much special about functionality, it is all basic needs for everyone
-each layout has it own settings (name, size, print options)
-print dialog offers to print all layouts (or selectable list) either keeping print options as defined within layouts or override for all
-it offers printing to one pdf or separately
-default naming should be according to layout name and optionally add filename as prefix or suffix with specifiable delimiter
-print options should be extended to control raster compression (highest quality (no compression), high quality (low compress), medium, low, … not only dpi
-option if layers are ought to be kept in pdf
Remarks outside of the print dialog scope
-improve quality of pdf exports →
currently with more detail views pdf contains some hidden geometry of detail views outside of its boundary
I’ve a little script for batch publishing layouts, keeping each layout pages individual name, I can;t claim it as mine, and can;t remember who shared with me, apologies to the author of this little script, I find it so good when printing 20+ layout sheets to PDF, hope it helps in some way
batch plot layoutov rhino.py (802 Bytes)
The difference is that it saves individual pdf files when exporting layouts. It doesn’t however do any customized naming which it would when fully implemented into the UI.
@Trav hi Travis, just tested this TestPDFExport, has potential, hopefully it will be developed to be a much better batch publisher, keeping layout names etc
Hi @milezee. Yes that is the current plan. We just need need to adjust the UI to accommodate for various naming conventions of the files. Whether its just 1, 2, 3 or by layout name, by filename-layout etc is really all that it boils down to. The frame work to generate the individual pages at different sizes and push them somewhere has already been done. So we’re close. Everyone’s feed back here helps us to make sure we create something flexible enough for the vast number of needs as possible. So your feedback is very helpful.
Hi @Trav , good to hear its being taken seriously, batch printing/publishing to PDF is so so important for many Rhino users as I’m sure you are well aware of over the years, see screenshot of typical projects I work on, you can see how helpful improvements to the output of layout pages would be when working on large projects
