In the WIP 5.2 I have seen some odd, but so far not reproducible behavior where the views are screwed up. I have seen the following:

I’m not able to repro this here either so far
I can get this to happen if I hit the space bar or press enter after switching to another view if the last action done was to change the view to one of the isometric projections. Could that be what’s happening on your end?
I will try to figure this out.
I was in the process of doing a long Make2D. If I am in, say, Perspective view, then do View>Set View>Isometric>NW, the view does not change.
If I do View>Set View>Top
It does change.
If I do View>Set View>Perspective
It still changes but the Isometric view behave differently.
I’ll try again when my job completes to look at your specific questions.
On the latest WIP that I downloaded today:
I changed the view to NW from the menu (what was top) in a new file and the view was still listed as “Top” in the four views.
I exited and restarted and the view was NW. However, I could not change the view using TOP/Perspective/Bottom. i then changed the view to NE. Then I was able to change it to Top or Perspective.
I asm seeing all kinds of wierdness there.

I am use 5C226W but am still seeing weirdness with isometric views. I was in perspective. Went to NW. OK.
From there I could not go to any other isometric view.
It looks like I cannot switch from one isometric view to another. I have to do isometric, something else, another isometric view,
Sorry @bigjimslade, I cannot reproduce this issue in the latest RhinoWIP. I’m sure I’m missing some critical step. Can you please provide a file and some clear steps to reproduce this?
I don’t see it in 5C230W. Looks like someone swatted it.
