WIP - Icon spacing and text much larger than V8

In the above, the icon images themselves are the same size in pixels. However, the horizontal spacing of the buttons is about 25% bigger in the WIP (for no real reason I can see).

Also the text font on the buttons with text has changed quite noticeably, it’s about 25% higher and 35% wider than in V8.

Lastly, the icons are still somewhat blurrier than in V8. Below at 400% in PS:

Have you tried tweaking this:

yes, this is logged as RH-92496 Text in Toolbars is too large

RH-90560 Blurry icons

Hi

The third option does not appear in the latest version

That setting is indeed not exposed in the public builds. Do you have this advanced setting?
Rhino.Options.TabPanels.ButtonPadding

Nope, not here in any case…

the setting will be exposed soon

Looks like it’s in today’s new WIP, and it works!!! Thanks!

Well for me, the issue is the opposite regarding the text. It’s borderline unreadable for me:

Bonus bug with regards to the icon spacing perhaps… since that pushed a few buttons outside of the vertical space I had for my toolbar, I had to remove one so now it looks like this:

That’s my “Extra tools” popup menu barely visible along the bottom.

Oh, another bonus bug, since I had to reset and do the OptionsMigrate dance again…

The “Extra Tools” pop up menu is not accessible at all since it itself overflows into a pop up menu (and I notice that overflow menu displays the icons smaller than in the regular menu).

And if I reduce the icon spacing, the Extra Tools pop up menu appears, but doesn’t show all contents (it itself overflows and also isn’t single column which makes it much more difficult to use in V9 compared to V8).

@eobet I don’t see the narrow font here:

Is it a result of @CallumSykes OptionMigrate then? I’ve reset my Beta several times and used that option several times to get my menus transferred.

I can try to reproduce if you can run Reset in Rhino 8 (without actually resetting anything) and hit the “Save settings for support” button, and send the resulting zip.

There is a also a test command, TestOptionsExport in 8 which will drop an .rhs we can use for testing OptionsMigrate

Already uploaded the V9 for the other thread, and just uploaded the V8 export for this now.
