Windows 11 requires an internet connection

I have downloaded the offline Rhino 8 installation package with the file name rhino_en-us_8.19.25112.13001. When installing on a computer running Windows 10 (without an internet connection), the software installs normally. However, when attempting to install on Windows 11, the program requires an internet connection in order to proceed.
Could you please provide guidance on how to install Rhino 8 on Windows 11 without needing an internet connection?

Here are the general offline install instructions if you haven’t found them:

If it is failing at one step, let us know which and perhaps provide some screenshots of the error messages.

I have reviewed the installation instructions, but I am currently encountering an issue on Windows 11 — the system requires an internet connection for verification before allowing the installation to proceed.

Hi -

From the image that you posted, it doesn’t look like the "redist’ folder is in the same location as the “Bootstrapper.exe” file as the instructions seem to require:

Installing

  1. Copy the Bootstrapper.exe file to an offline computer or network drive.
  2. Copy the redist folder to the same location.
  3. On the offline computer, run the Bootstrapper.exe file.

Apart from that, as Mitch noted, please provide more details about the steps that went well and where you are stuck with screenshots of error messages.

In my experience the “redist” file needs to be named exactly “redist.exe”. Also if the redist file is not the correct version (usually an old one) for the Rhino version you are installing, then the installer will try to download the correct one. This fails on a machine with no internet connection. The solution to this is to go to the online machine you use for downloading the latest version and delete or rename any redist.exe that may reside on that machine and then actually run the installer. This will cause it to download the correct redist.exe for that version of Rhino and you can then transfer it to the offline machine (replacing any older redist) along with the installer.
