I tried to install Rhino V4 on a Win 7 machine as my XP desktop died. Gives me error and stops the install. Machine does not have internet access. Do I need to be connected to install V4? Thanks
V4 is fine on Win 7 provided you set the compatibility mode on the Desktop Shortcut to “Windows XP SP3”.
If you don’t V4 will still run fine but things like arranging your toolbars won’t stick around after closing and restarting Rhino.
The reason is Microsoft introduced User Account Control in Windows Vista after V4 was released.
If your V4 CD is SR9, you’re fine.
If it’s pre-SR9, download the installer from the Legacy section of the Download page on the Rhino Web site and install using it instead.
