Why won't this surface patch or cap?

I am doing a lot of patching and capping on this surface as I am removing superfluous standoffs, and i cannot seem to patch this particular hole. I have run into some that are more difficult than others that I have had to re-trim, but that didn’t work here. What am I missing?

I think what you want is to Untrim those holes. Does that do what you need?

In this case, RemoveEdge, with Mode=Line. Just delete the small split out pieces.

I get an error “cannot delete polysurface edge”
