Maybe the degree of closeness to a perfect circle with only 10 points was considered not enough? Anyway, seems to remember the last setting even between sessions, so once you set it to 10, it should stay… --Mitch

The new defaults for deformable circles will be 10 points, degree 5, settings sticky across sessions.
