Hello - if that is not one object but a group, that is the expected and currently the only possible behavior. You can Block
the objects to make it one top level object and the gumball should stick.

Adding to this old thread.
Relocating the Gumball on an object, then copying it using Gumball + alt, doesn’t preserve the location of the gumball on the original. For better user experience, I think the default action should retain the same location on the copy.
