Why is there a fly-out from the Filter panel?

I don’t get why there is a fly-out from the Filter panel. Why have the panel with traditional tick boxes and the fly-out with “modern” ticks?

But more importantly, why can I change the values in either place? What is the effect of having two different sets of values as a consequence?

Hi Jeremy -

In theory, when the panel is big enough to house them all, there aren’t any chevrons to fly-out the pop-up menu. When you wiggle the size of that panel a bit, you should see that those chevrons disappear.

I’ve made a comment in the following to see if this requires a separate YT item…
RH-73363 OSnap:Dialog: Chevrons on narrow panel

I’m not able to have those two say something different here, so I can’t say anything about the consequences.

Can you post the SystemInfo and steps to reproduce?

I’ve been trying to establish steps to reproduce and, while mostly it stays in sync, I have managed to unsync it three more times. However I am sorry to say that I have not been able to pinpoint a specific set of operations to reproduce it, beyond the vague “Move panel randomly, click check boxes or fly-out ticks randomly, repeat randomly”.

I was able to reproduce the behaviour on a second machine. Also, once the disassociation happens it remains, even if you close and reopen the panel, until you restart Rhino.

HTH
Jeremy

I managed to see it right away the first thing I tried… but then afterward could not repeat. :man_shrugging:

Also here on my old Mac.

[they show the same, but what is the use of the fly-out…? when the panel is fully visible ?]
