Why I can't apply material to a few selected object at the same time? Is there a way to do that? The icon shows material as "Varies". Thank you!

Why I can’t apply material to a few selected object at the same time? Is there a way to do that? The icon shows material as “Varies”. Thank you!

Open the Materials panel, from the Render menu- there you can assign materials by drag and drop from the library as well as edit the materials. Does that help?
