Why Does Changing Material Crash Rhino?

Hi, currently trying out Rhino 8 but I’ve noticed a problem. As soon as I start playing with materials it becomes almost unusable - at least whilst material changes occur. It starts as soon as I click on the material tab and it takes a long time to make any change. The problem then persists beyond the material change and I typically need to restart rhino for normal usage. This is happening on simple files with no complex geometry.

Any ideas or solutions? Thanks, Adam

Please try these steps:

Rhino 8 Crashes when I try to use Materials

Please try restarting your device. If it persists then: restart Rhino without opening a document, then Rhino 8 > Settings > Rhino Render. Switch to the CPU tab and make sure CPU is checked as render device. Then restart Rhino and see if this helps with materials. Please send in crash reports when the Rhino crash reporter dialog appears after a crash - do fill in your email address, that helps us to understand better about crashes, and potentially reach out for more information.
