Hi,
Can someone please show me a car model (realistically rendered one) that has been made up using Rhino.
I have found some car models in Grabcad that are amazing but I don’t sure what were the softwares used. You can have a look here:

If you found out the software please inform me too. I’m doubtful between Rhino and Solidworks
Thanks.

On the description on the right side of the page where it says “Software” appears the word Rhino. Also on the Lambo and McLaren pages appear also the Rhino name on the same spot.

But even solidworks has same quality models the important point here is which software gives you comfortable use or the one that you are approachs with same modeling idea as rhino offers you plus with much more freedom.

Hi Alex, I was thinking of AK3D . He made an e-book. It is made from a German language background. So if you decide to buy it be aware that some commands he uses are not as you would expect. I think you can find a demo of it on YouTube . —Mark

Yes, I agree that Rhino has more freedom especially in oranic shapes but my problem is Filleting tool in Rhino. Filleting tool is problematic in Rhino. It fails many times and you have to use some other tricks which are hard to do. But Solidworks fillets so easily. I don’t know why filleting is weak in Rhino. Do you know?

Hello Alex
This is my take on it all (highly simplified) but I am far from an expert on the matter. Solidworks is polygon based while rhino is nurbs based. a surface created with Solidworks is made up of hundreds if not thousands of tiny surfaces (the polygons) which can be individually tweaked if needed while the same surface created by Rhino is a single surface and not so easily manipulated. Another big problem is trimming, something that happens a lot with filleting. Trim something in a polygon modeler and the polygons along the trimmed edge simply change shape but it’s very different for a nurbs modeller. Nurbs surfaces are always rectangular with a beginning and an end, which is why there is always a seam on spheres, tubes etc. When a nurbs surface is trimmed what really happens is a mask is used to make those parts that you want trimmed invisible. This is why rhino is so concerned about whether an edge is trimmed (not a real edge) or not. All this may make it seem that I’m a fan of polygons: I’m not. Polygons do not make accurate smooth surfaces and with all those nodes, create huge files. But it would be nice if Rhino could do something about the filleting. It’s a problem that was being moaned about when I joined the old forum and I’ve been rattling around here since v1.1.

No, Solidworks is based on a solid-volume kernel (Parasolid), it is not a polygon modeler.

My Fillet and Blend work perfectly even in difficult situations - problems often arise when the user makes a mistake. 😉
