Hello,

It was back in April that I posed some questions in the GH discussion forum about generating the spiral found in the Sunflower Phyllotaxis. I’m not sure if my question is more appropriate for that venue than this one, but here goes: I’d like to generate the spiral of a pattern of florets in the head of a sunflower as was proposed by H. Vogel in 1979 rather than use the approximation found in that GH discussion. For the mathematical expression, please see Mathematical model of floret arrangement.

My question is: where should I begin studying the Rhino documentation to learn how to generate this pattern? Thanks in advance.

My guess is you’d want to look into scripting; off hand, I do not think there are built in Rhino tools that would help directly, but it is a good platform for making geometry from some scripted algorithm -

Excellent! I’ve just started studying Python for a related aspect of this project. Thanks!
