Where for stepByStep tutorial realistic materials & lighting?

Hi,
Wanted a decent Kings English understandable accent professionally spoken Tutorial on the following.
The thing I have wanted to learn, and havent a clue where to start, is taking my objects, applying materials such as rusty metal, brickwork, canvas, etc and seeing it shown in middle of the day sunlight or soft shadows sunlight, or cloudy bright.

so I can take the item and paste it into a real scene and you would think it was real.

I am drawing a medium blue metal cone with 5 strand (helixed) stainless steel wire running through it and porcelain insulators, and need an oblique view of it, as if it were lit by the sun , European Theatre, not desert.

I will post it soon, but putting out a call for some kind soul to help me understand the basics.
I will be willing to use V8 or V9 for this, after making it in good 'ol V5.

A tut on industrial small objects, not one on beach shoes or mobile phone case.

How to do a steel plate in a military green colour with a patina of rust spots, edges rusting etc.
How to do a rubber tyre.
decent shadows and highlights as one gets outside in real light.
How to recreate a brick wall which is an actual recreation of a real one, each brick hand crafted in its original colours, an archaeology requirement.

That sort of thing.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve -

Perhaps you can get an AI to dub these into Kings English, but you could always start on the Learn page…

You need to be realistic about what you can regarding ‘learning the basics’, and learning rendering as a skilled activity.

Ultimately you will also find in terms of realism that Rhino Cycles will have its limits. These limits will constrain your ability to simple copy and paste items from one scene to another; because lighting and camerawork really matter.

If you need to produce such things quickly, and skip the skill and learning requirement; then using an AI renderer may be the better route for you. But reproduction and nuance may be more evasive, and you won’t really learn anything about lighting techniques or textures.

But, as I have asked before, what do you actually want things to look like? Are there examples of what “realism” means to you? Then you can make a start.

Hi,
The porcelain to be like the original, and you have done that,.
I have a small cone I am about to rotate and make, and need it as a medium bright bluish anodised aluminium.
I have stainless steel aerial wire 5 strand twisted to have looking like such.
Ideally looking like they were photographed out of doors with sun shining.

To be pasted into a real scene and look as if its not false.
When I get and make the solids I can then upload and perhaps see how its done.
Cheers
Steve
