When multiple sessions open, all but one freezes

OK, I have a consistent problem that has persisted through the last update. I often run with multiple sessions of Rhino open as I use components of prior projects in new projects. Copy and paste works great. Since Rhino 8 when I’m working with two or more sessions open, the non active sessions freeze at some point. Can’t close them, can’t work with them, can’t copy and paste. I end up using task manager to close them down. Fortunately, since I’m just using those sessions to copy from, I don’t usually lose work. But this is a problem I’d like to see resolved as a higher priority.

Hi Gary -

I don’t recall other reports of this behavior which points to something machine-specific.

Please start by updating the drivers for the GPU.
Make sure to pick the “Clean Install” option when installing new drivers.

Wim, I did the driver upgrade and was thinking it had resolved the problem, but then today it happened again. The idle project was frozen when I went to shut down Rhino for the time being.

Hi Gary -
When one of the Rhino instances freezes, please follow these instructions to create a memory dump file and send that in → Manually Creating a Memory Dump (DMP File) from an Unresponsive Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki]
