When I try to open a new empty project , an old project opens instead

Whenever I open Rhino 6 to start a new empty project , I always get an old project which keeps re-openingeach time I try to start a new project.

I can get to a new empty project by deleting the old project . ?
Does anyone know what I need to do to stop the same old project from opening when I want to start a new empty project .
Thanks , Michael.

Sounds like you accidentally overwrote your template file with the old project file. So, start a new file (which probably has the old project in it), delete all the geometry, set up any layers and other file properties you want to have when you open a new file, then use Save as Template from the File menu and and overwrite the existing template file.
