For the past weeks I’ve been using V6 to make use of the Sub-D feature set.
However the display performance is extremely unstable:
-Display in shaded mode sometimes flickers, loosing shading and only displaying curves
-At some point curves only render as dotted lines making it impossible to work on the model
-(SubD) objects render seemingly in randomly modes, with/without shade etc.
I’d like to give feedback on this but do not know where to start.
My GPU drivers are up to date.
Are all the display issues you’re seeing happening with sub-d objects in the scene? I don’t believe any of the control cages or render meshes made for sub-d display have been optimized yet in the new display engine. Post some specific/simple files along with a screenshot of what you see and I’ll get them logged in the system.
When adding a clipping-plane and fiddling with the view (de)selecting objects, rotating the view I get to see this all of a sudden. When I delete the clipping-plane the curves re-appear:
Thanks for the file Willem. I’m not seeing this issue here using the latest internal build of the day but I also don’t have the same GPU as you so that may be involved. @jeff any thoughts, do you have an HD8970M?
I’m not seeing it here either…but I’m just guessing at the steps to reproduce it… I load the file, start picking, moving and transforming objects, I move the clipping plane, I zoom, I pan, I rotate… I repeat all of the above for at least 10 minutes straight… Everything still looks good.
So I guess I’ll need more exact steps you’re doing, as well as any tweaks you may have made to your Shaded display mode. I will try this on other Radeons I have to see if that makes any difference.
I understand the need for specifics.
I’ve been fooling around with a model for some time and could not reproduce it.
Once I get the display issues again in a realworld situation I try to see if I can reproduce it on the spot and send you the file with specifics.
