Ophthalmogist by trade, flying for fun. When I left general aviation I picked up my youth hobby aeromodelling. Always enjoyed more working on my own projects than buying ready built . I started with autocad some 30 years ago then moved to microstation and finally to rhino, which is truly like heaven to me. Some people read the scriptures at night I keep on watching Sky videos on primary surfaces. Amazing job as a teacher Sky.
TIDY surfacing! So glad to be of help too. Do you wanna buy a laser cutter lol?? I got my start doing CAD as a way to design and build my own kits. Here’s a few threads from way back on some of the kits I designed. I did all these in 2D with AutoCAD, I shudder to think now of those days lol.

This is why it all started I guess. My mother and my father when we were in Canada. I do have a laser cutter and a small Cnc too:-). I love going from a simple thought to maiden flight through researching three views, photos gathered on the web and old aviation magazines. The satisfaction of seeing that at the end everything worked out is so rewarding. I live in Italy, half an hour from Venice. If you ever happen to take a trip around here get in touch with me and be my guest Sky
For me, GH is a hobby.
I have no real problem to solve with GH.
Like skating in winter, cycling in autumn, or maybe more like chess, it is a beautiful mind game.
It may sound weird, but recently my hobby is creating some 3d models in Rhino 7 just for fun.
Why’d you leave GA?
I’d go bonkers if I couldn’t fly anymore!
An addition to this post. One of so many is, using Rhino to create RC planes since Rhino 5.
However, I’m totally amazed with how Rhino 8 fits into delivering more productivity into the workflow. PushPull allows me to create precise tabs and slots with angles.
A test of half way design process of a resemblence of F-16 XL, which only took me around 50 mins to get into this stage. This would be made into score-and-fold pattern for 5mm depron sheets.
The first Rhino 8 test was to create MQ-28 Ghost Bat which flew nicely already.
I was never interested in motorization, but this picture is very tempting. A very nice, fresh-looking motorbike, beautiful views, water with some ice floes. It’s 33 C right now where I live and this chill alpine breeze while riding must be nice…
It was also 33C down in the valley yesterday…
— but at least it wasn’t raining…
My other new ride…
(just 50 years old this year, but new to me…)
914/4 (not a six) 2.0L
(I need to calm down now with the vehicle acquisitions…)
Such a cool car.
Is this a Rhino 9 WIP Render test?
It really looks like the “real thing”!
…Beautiful car. Enjoy driving it!
the 914/6 was my go to toy but impossible to find and all others I found were rust buckets… Must be a joy to drive
Yeah, it’s basically a go-kart… Even with the 4 cylinder engine, it’s still a blast to drive. You can find 6ers if you are patient and look hard - I almost bought one and imported it here, but it was not in the shape I would have liked - but you also need to have a lot deeper pockets than for a four. This one was already here in CH and fully restored. This is my second one, I had one in California back in the late 70’s for a number of years.
Always loved the potential of that car but Im more of a Stratos fan… They should redo the 914 car with modern technology… Would be amazing… The 917 and most cars today are just too heavy!
Well, I respectfully disagree… The whole fun of this car is that it’s a real seventies sports car with real seventies technology… Every time you stop at an intersection you get the “perfume” of old car exhaust wafting back into the cockpit… No power steering, no power brakes, analog gauges, no on-board electronics. Plus as it’s a fairly rare car, and especially with the yellow color, you get lots of waves and smiles wherever you go… That’s half the fun!
You got a good point… Helvetian friend of fine had a DeTomaso… And I wont sell my vintage (2006 LOL) Atom… Let it rip!
Love it!
We should extend that to “What were, are, will be - your vehicles”
including bikes, boats, cars…edit: wings, surf boards…
