When quitting a very very heavy scene and then starting Rhino 9 it seems not to quit fully.
What is interesting is this:
There are actually two Rhinos running. But I can only see one in Windows. The second one is only visible in Process Explorer.
I think that quitting the heavy scene did not really work well. And starting the new Rhino does not work because something is blocked.
There seems no way to get out of it. Only killing the processes.
The weird thing is that it is still impossible to start Rhino again. Only way is to restart the computer. Then it works fine.
Relating to this I had a “Hypervisor_Error” BSOD earlier today while working on that scene (or possibly when quitting Rhino).
I’m just presuming that these things are related and that it somehow has something to do with the GPU driver getting overutilized. And that’s why I can’t start a new rhino even when I’ve killed both processes.
Any one up to fix this?
/Erik

No, apparently the driver update did not help. Tried opening a new instance and it stalled again.

I managed to quit one instance (at least it looked that way). But when checking Process Explorer, both are still there.
I killed both.
Tried to start again. Does not work.
It seems to stall at different points in the startup routine.
Only way now is to restart the computer.
Hm …

Will Rhino WIP open in SafeMode? add this flag to the shortcut.

Even after restart it stalled.
Yes, it starts in SafeMode. But as I understand it then does not use the GPU … And I’m pretty pretty sure this has something to do with the GPU.

It also disables plugins, lets start by disabling the plugins that do not ship with Rhino.
Unchecking Enabled while in SafeMode will allow it to not start in the next normal Rhino session (not in safe Mode)
We can also start looking a default plugins with this process if need be

Hello,
I removed that plug-in and started it again which cause a BSOD.
Next step please.
Thanks

After that restart it started normally.
Now let’s see if it will work permanently henceforth.
Will report back.

What happens when you close Rhino? Are there any 3rd party plugins involved?

It seems to quit, but the process never dies. And after that, it is impossible to start rhino again even if I kill the process. Only restarting the computer helps.

lets create a .dmp of the hung process..
The RhinoCrashDump.DMP file will be too big to attach to an email. Please use our upload system here . Use tech@mcneel.com as the recipient.

I’ve sent two dump files now. Was away for a bit from the computer.
Bit of a problem this now, that R9 does not start.

Thanks, my amateur go at the dmp files (devs will look at it later) has it looking like a .net issue.
Is your Windows 10 up to date with WindowsUpdates?
Lets repair your redistributables and .netcore

I’m running Windows 11 Pro.
Just before doing the dumps I updated windows (again) and updated Nvidia Drivers to the latest studio version.
My understanding is updating Windows does not update redistributables. They need to be updated separartely.
