Wee Bug? - Layers - Properties Panel alignment

I’ve always kept my main layers/properties panels one above the other, with a host of tabs on each one.

With version - (6.0.14294.17091, 10/21/2014), I’m unable to stack these two sets of panels vertically. They’ll only dock side by side.

I’m sure it’s unintended as there’s a tremendous waste of screen real estate.

Thanks,
Ernest

Hi Ernest - so far this works here - do you see the blue preview rectangle pop into place even, or nothing at all?

-Pascal

Hi Pascal,

Hmmm. Maybe I’m the only one? I do get the blue previews as expected.

I wonder if this has something to do with the mix of my 2880 x 1660px with a 1920 z 1080px external monitor? V5 is working normally. I’ve gone through all the scaling options with them and had no change.

BTW - everything was as expected until somewhere within the last week.

Maybe I’ll just wait for the next WIP and see how things go.

Thanks,
Ernest

@JohnM, any ideas?

thanks,

-Pascal

I have seen a couple of reports of similar docking issues, I will be looking into this shortly.

Update: the issue persists here in (6.0.14316.5541, 11/12/2014)

Thanks,
Ernest

I’ve just installed the latest version on a brand new laptop and am totally unable to get these to sit as I want them.
That is; Properties on top and Layers below on the right-hand-side of the screen. My F3 will toggle Properties and F4 Layers but I cannot get them stacked and when toggling they appear as tabs in the same space. :frowning:

Hi @JohnM, Have you had a chance to look into this? They are still acting up around here :scream_cat:

FWIW, I’m still unable to get the Properties panel to stay in place above the Layers panel between sessions.

I have two keyboard shortcuts:
F3 is tied to '-_Properties _Visible _Toggle _Enter

F4 is tied to '-_Layer _Visible _Toggle _Enter

I’ll drag and put the panels as I want them and turn these on and off as required during a session.
If I close Rhino with the panels off and start Rhino again, turning the panels on again will put them side by side.

I just logged http://mcneel.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/RH-35026 for this.

For the record - this one was never actually fixed, only closed without announcement. The issue was first reported in this thread on November 10th, 2014 and is a regression from RH5.

From this thread, it appears that this issue is now replaced with RH-42292, which was set to be fixed in RH 6.1. I strongly disagree. To put it mildly, I find getting my modeling viewport reduced by 22% rather annoying when trying to get work done. Just saying…

@JohnM and @pascal, Wim reported that this is still a problem on another thread

And DO note that RH-42292 is about a Osnap “Panel” - NOT about properties and layers.
