I am having trouble changing the orientation of a beam in refence to the centreline. I want to have a profile that follows a centred curve that is not perpendicular but at an 15° angle as seen on the example bellow. I have tried multiple profile parameters and placement methods but I cant figure this one out. Is it possible in grasshopper straight to Tekla.
If you want to create a Beam type object (and not e.g. an Item) you would insert the beam straight along the centerline and then add cuts or fittings at the ends. Here’s an example:
Note that this means that the profile will be perpendicular to the centerline, not to the cut plane (as indicated by the measurement perpendicular to the centerline in the pic).
If you really want the profile to be perpendicular to the cut plane, you need to use a parametric profile where the width is adjustable and then do some trigonometry to compensate for the angle. Here’s an example with a simple rectangular profile:
