In order to learn VARQ, I thought I would redo a small old project first to get the hang of the SW.
However, it turned out to be much more difficult, than I expected it to be…
One of my biggest challenges are walls in conjunction with roofs. Yesterday I spend approximately 30 minutes! on these highlighted walls, until they looked right and joined in a way you would expect them to.
I had to do a lot of wall splitting and also used 2 walls above each other. I realized that roof trimmed walls with a height exceeding into a wall placed above them can cause unexpected behavior, resulting in walls not joining or corners not properly closed.
Is there a “in depth guide” how to operate more complex wall/roof assemblies ?
I attached the file If somebody wants to take a look at it and maybe come up with a more elegant / simpler solution.
Hi Andreas,
The model seems to be pretty well done. I guess you started creating the roofs with the vaRoof tool and then you exploded them into slabs (using the vaRoofExplode command). May I know the reason of turning those roofs into slabs?
And the extension of walls to the roofs seem fine too.
We created a Tip to explain how to overcome some issues similar to those you explain related to wall joints when they are extended to other objects. I hope that helps: https://www.visualarq.com/support/tip/why-some-walls-dont-join/
Hi Francesc,
Thank you for looking into that, I do not remember exactly, I think I did it to break down my initial problems into smaller bits, when I was creating walls that interfered with roofs above and beyond them.
