W125 Silver Arrow – SubD Model (Looking for Detailing Feedback)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on a SubD model inspired by the Mercedes W125 Silver Arrow and this is my first pass at the base form. I’d really appreciate some guidance on how to push the detailing further and make it more realistic.

At the moment, I’m looking for advice on:

  • Adding finer surface details without overcomplicating the topology

  • Improving panel transitions and edge flow

  • Best practices for refining curvature (especially around the fenders and cockpit)

  • Small details that make vintage race cars feel more authentic (rivets, seams, vents, etc.)

  • Workflow tips for keeping the model clean while increasing detail

If anyone has feedback,

references, or workflow suggestions, I’d love to hear them. I’m aiming to take this from a solid base model to a more polished piece.

Thanks in advance!

Are you using blueprints as reference?
To me it look a bit out of proportions with a wasp shape too much accentuate.
But Subd are like this , you keep changing untile isn’t ready.

Hello, yes—I used the blueprint for the side and top views initially, but later deviated from it
