Since just before the latest release, I’ve been using a workflow in a recently created file that required me to left-click-drag layers out of their sublayer and then back in again after I’ve imported some DWG info.
Yesterday I discovered that I could not do that (saw a red NO symbol). Tried rebooting the app and same thing, tried rebooting the laptop (Windows 11) and same thing. This morning I started up fresh and when i left-click-dragged i got a small blue arrow, but the layers didn’t move.
I can use the red carrot button on the top of the layer menu to push them out of their parent layer but there is no corresponding button to push them back into a parent layer.
Anyone experiencing the same?
Minor Update
I saved down to Rhino 7 and got the same error in 7. Jumped out of the app and got an update alert so I let it update. Then when i retried (with Rhino 7) my workflow worked.
Second Update
My goal (already achieved) is pushing models out to KMZ and dragging them into Google Earth. I just used Rhino 7 to make a few more KMZs and after draggin them into GE, when I try to drag those files in GE to organize them into subfolders (which Ive done a dmillion times before) I get a NO symbol. Long story short, this is either partly or wholly a Windows 11 problem.
Running Windows 11 V 10.0.26100 Build 26100
I’m 99.99% sure this is a Windows 11 bug, not a Rhino bug. I experienced a drag and drop problem also in Google Earth and Adobe In-Design. In-Design was the tell because dragging objects on their pasteboard was jumping the objects a fixed amount off to one side. That got my spidey sense tingling and this is what the problem is.
I was working on a super widescreen monitor from which I extended my laptop display. I’ve always got both set to recommended display scales which I think is Microsoft’s way of trying to calibrate fonts between displays. In any event I’m doing a presentation from my laptop later this week and needed to change the laptop display scale for reasons i wont get into. This triggered the drag and drop problem on the extended monitor that unfortunately, I cannot undo, even after I set the laptop display back to recommended. So this is Redmond’s problem, not yours. Thanks!
I have exactly the same issue! I have been using Rhino for the last six months, using it on my laptop and on my extended screen. The software worked whether I was on the laptop or on the extended screen.
Yesterday, all of a sudden (but I think I got a Rhino update that day), the layers panel does not work on the extended screen, but it does on my laptop. In fact, even if I use Rhino on the extended screen, but leave the layers panel on my laptop, the panel works. But again, will not work if on the extended screen.
I am so delighted that the developer are working on it. I hate it when things go wrong!
