Hi, @denbutler.
After a reboot, reinstall again by right-clicking the Rhino 8.13 installer and Run as Administrator. I’m assuming you have Admin privileges on your computer, correct?
If that doesn’t work, try this: Manually Uninstalling Rhino [McNeel Wiki], then do the above once again after a reboot.
Greetings Steve,
Couple problems with this solution:
So, waiting for 8.14 to see if that will work.
If you are dead in the water,
hit us on tech and we’ll get you a pre-release cut of 8.14-
but it’s likely a better solution short term to get you an old installer that was working so you can get back up and running-
Greetings back at ya… the reason I mentioned running the installer (any version of an installer) with elevated privileges is because of the folder writing error you received. If your user account on that computer is not an admin account, this is the first thing we suggest you try. As Kyle mentioned, you can email us at tech@mcneel.com, and we’ll open a support ticket for you. If you want to work with me directly, email me at steve.fuchs@mcneel.com. Cheers!
Thanks Kyle,
Not dead in the water. 8.11 is running fine. 8.12 was skipped, and 8.13 install was attempted.
Thanks Steve,
Will pick this back up in a couple weeks, when the workload lightens.
ok, hit us up on tech when you want to revisit and we’ll be happy to help-
Just to wrap this topic up, 8.14 is up and running here as of today.
It required a complete uninstall, a repair of a corrupted file, assignment of permissions, and a reinstall of Rhino 8.
This info came to me second hand from IT service.
