VA3 - Guides are visible on Plan view, even when shouldn't

Hi,

Even when layer is hidden, in active or through worksession, Guides are visible in the Plan view.

When the layer is off, the Guides should not be generated to Floor plan views.

Video shows the issue.

Rh8 SR25

VARQ 3.7.0

Edit:

Also

  1. the Plan views do not seem to respect the Levels. The geometry is sectioned, but all the Plan Views are shown.

  2. The Plan generation is wrong, as seen in this screencap. The 4K-floor Plan view does not match the model. Models are through Worksession.

I set up a simple file for testing. @fsalla

First, a couple of usability grievances:

  • When Plan view Auto Update is off, the plan should NOT update when moving it, or when updating the Style.
  • If I have multiple Plan views on file (2+) and decide to update the style (or move the views), this causes the instant and simultaneous update of all Plan views. This update results in the crash of Rhino. It does not help, if the Plan view objects are hidden.
  • Plan views do not respect Levels. ((My original plan was to produce 2D-drawings per floor, and project to XY-plane upon DWG-export. Hence each DWG-plan would be on correct location. PDF-printouts using Layouts, and isolating Level per drawing))
  • When placed on top of each other, the higher (+Z) Plan view results are projected onto the lower Plan view results.

The video shows a simple case of stacked Plan levels, and a repeateable crash when updating multiple at once.

Hi @Toni_Osterlund ,

Yes, this is a bug. We will fix is as soon as possible.

Try to check the “clippable” status of plan views, so they are clipped when hidding levels.

You can also play with the “View Depth” property to control the levels that are displayed in the plan view:

Can you share the file of this case?

Since version 3.7.1, VisualARQ doesn’t show plan views in other plan views (which generated a loop that led to crashes sometimes)

I agree. This change is already in our list of pending issues.

if you edit a plan view style, all plan views will update to the style changes, and will also update the geometry displayed in them. This is an expected behavior. But the crash should not happen. We fixed a related issue recently in the 3.7.1. Please try it with the last public update (Update - VisualARQ) or with the 3.8 RC3: VisualARQ 3 - Version 3.8 RC3 released

I think this has been fixed in VisualARQ 3.8 because I can’t reproduce it. This is what I get when I update the plan views of your file: (all plan views have the View depth set to “unlimited”)

Hi @fsalla ,

I updated to SR26, and VA3.8 RC3.

Usually do not want to do this in the middle of a project, but 3.8 seemed to solved many of the issues:

  • no more crash on Plan view update

  • higher plan views are not anymore projected on to lower views

  • This was related to the plan projection issue, so I think it’s solved now.

  • ‘Clippable’ status solves the issue with View hiding. Could this be ‘on’ by default?

Yes, we could change the default status to “On”.

Hi Fransesc!

+1 for this bug.

Hi @Gabriel_Bouzelos this issue has been fixed for the upcoming updates. I’ll let you know when there is a public version of it.

Okay @fsalla, if you have a possible estimation on a date for a RC, let me know.

Tomorrow!
