Hi
V7
I have gone through the properties box and in all the obvious locations I see nothing that decides on the zoom increments of the mousewheel,
Massive great jump in V7, sensible amount in V5.
why so different and where to alter this ?
same size object view in V5 and V7, three clicks and its touching screen edges in V5, but in V7 one click and its twice as big as screen !
I would suggest you try working in a parallel viewport instead of perspective.
I wouldn’t get any work done efficiently using a perspective view because the view manipulation in perspective is just too unreliable, too unpredictable or just too slow.
If you use a parallel view it will always zoom in to where your mouse is pointing. What you are trying to zoom to will never fly off and disappear.
The reliability of zooming in a parallel view means you can set your zoom factor much lower than .9.
I set zoom factor to .7 which means I can zoom in real close or far out much much faster than the default setting.
The reason things fly off into space when you zoom in is because the zoom target is not where you expect it to be. You can use the zoomtarget command to set the zoom but that is a huge time waster to have to do that repeatedly.
Also there are other view manipulations that affect where the camera target is. The settings are on the same options>view page as the zoom factor. Are they all set the same as V5?
