Simply put (and not meant as a rant) Rhino’s delivery speed is the bottleneck and not the hardware.

This should not be the case anymore for polysurface and extrusion wires with the GPU tessellation option. See:

The latest WIP (May 2, 2017) contains an experimental feature called GPU tessellation. This feature is off by default. You can turn this on by checking the “GPU Tessellation” option on Rhino’s OpenGL options page. What Is GPU Tessellation?
