i have never used this function before so excuse me if this seems a dumb question, but whatever i do i can not get it to work.
i assume this is to unroll a texture to edit it and reaply? after i select the object and make a square(not sure what for since i would assume it should just unroll with its current dimension) the rectangular disappears again after i complete the command.
what is this function for, am i doing anything wrong or is it a bug?

one bug remains for sure, when i complete the command the texture of the initial object changes completely, even if that is user input error on my side the action does not undo. when i use cmd z the dialogue opens again blocking my current undo stack. only way to get around is undo multiple.
Hi @encephalon
If you haven’t already, start by watching this little video by Brian James, where the whole concept of UV mapping and the UV editor is the topic.

Hi @encephalon The UVeditor workflow is getting an overhaul for Rhino 8. If you haven’t tried it in the WIP and can, you may find it easier to use already. The UVeditor now creates it’s own window that doesn’t require an Apply or Cancel. All changes are instant and there are some new features too like pinning and straightening which I’m particularly excited about. Note that currently you have to have an applied material with a texture in it to see the UV meshes in the WIP but that is filed as a bug already.
thanks Brian, no wip installed yet, i am a year without proper worktable due to moving and the computer is also pretty old but not long anymore i hope, so i will be starting to rant you guys full soon enough.
thrilled to hear that this is going to improve as well, it seemed a bit counterintuitive, though there are quite a few more commands where the dialogue has to stay open.
i would enjoy boxedit and text to behave like that for instance and probably a lot of the texturing and material and colouring panels where you have to double apply your way through.
It’s not documented yet but will be as we get closer. If you have any v7 users that want to try it out now and provide feedback, direct them to the WIP please. The main thing to check out now is the separate UVEditor window instead of dragging out the UVEditor in an existing viewport. The new features are there too…
