Negative scaling leads to an internal error:


The mapping channel riddle is still there, I hoped for an enhancement in this respect.

The new Add button in the Materials panel is a UI change to unify how add icons look in different panels. You can alternately right click in the thumbnail area of the panel to create a new material from a context menu.

WCS mapping of textures in library materials will provide a real world unit size of the textures based on the model scale. In many cases this produces a better result by default than the surface divisions in a polysurface or the specific parametrization of those surfaces. You are correct that you need to know this to understand whatā€™s happening and to change it. One small change we made back in Rhino 7 was to include a message with a text button in the Properties panel > Texture Mapping settings at the top. This allows you to click once to change the mapping for all textures in the material assigned to the selection at once from WCS to Channel 1. This may prove easier than manually changing each in materials that have more than one texture map.

I understand.

This can be really helpful.
My observation is that it works best when the model is in Inch, in Europe we use decimal units except UK.
So we always have to adjust.
Which is ok so far.

When I made the video, I wanted to point out the scaling issue, but couldnā€™t hold back the comments on the mapping.

You made a wonderful video on mapping for V6:

If you could make a new video for V8, it would be even more wonderful.

@Charles Thanks! Iā€™ll definitely make more mapping tutorials for Rhino 8, the UVeditor has been improved in many ways thanks to @Jussi_Aaltonen
