UV Cylinder capped

Hi I would like to UV the shape attached to the post.
I am using RH for Mac, and what I would like to do is to make the grain follow the circular shape.
Is there anyway to use a checker or image map to see the changes ?

on mac rhino you have only this option to create it as one surface with a continuous crosssection which you revolve, you can then apply the standard textures with reduced tiling for example U: 1,0 | V: 0,5 worked well

no problem i figured that probably you dont even have to make one surface because rhino should create the same orientation, if you have the file you created i could try on that.
