Uv along path?

looking for a way to automate uv mapping so that a texture will flow along a given path
attached is a sketch of 1) the input curves/surface 2) default uv mapping 3) goal uv mapping
is this something that can be achieved with rhino/grasshopper ?

Hello - if you create the surface as a trimmed plane, then you’ll need to use a custom mapping object (Object Properties > Mapping page) (Just how depends on what the actual result needs to be - should the pattern taper with the shape, or just follow the central path and be clipped by the edges of the surface?)

ideally it should taper to the edges, yes.
automation is key here though

I see - well, just judging from your image, if you create the surface by lofting the wavy edge curves rather than trimming a plane, it should just work.
