Usual suspects

Frequent causes of problems with Rhino:

  1. Mesh settings - too coarse a display/render mesh causes jagged edges, gaps between edges, faceted surfaces and other visual problems
  2. Distance from the origin - too far from the origin causes a variety of problems involving both geometry and appearance. Frequently the cause of erratic or strange behavior.
  3. Inappropriate absolute tolerance - Generally shows up when there are problems with joining, splitting, trimming or intersecting.

Another common cause of problems:

Coincident and almost coincident faces/surfaces. These cause problems for Boolean, intersect, trim and split operations, particularly for non-planar surfaces.
