Using grasshopper to rotate and align geometry

Hi,

Is it possible to use Grasshopper to take a 3D object, break it into its individual polysurfaces, align them to the bottom of the c plane and rotate them so that they’re all flat in top view. Screenshots and model attached.

Definitely yes, but it’s a little work. In this case, the pieces are already separate. You might want to look at OpenNest, though GH work is still needed.

As you can see, the curved pieces are a problem…
