I want to help explore the USD export (and maybe Import) from Rhino. I saw that Rhino WIP has some basic functionality, my only question is if this is the actual code used for that Export and if that is what I can look into if I wanted to understand more how it works.

Yes, that is the repository we are using for the USD exporter that ships with Rhino. It currently does not compile for people who don’t have access to the RhinoCore source code, but we plan to adjust the project so anyone can compile it using our C++ public SDK.
