If I upgrade from Rhino 3 to Rhino 8, is the license the same number? The reason I ask is that I use a plugin no longer sold or supported that is directly tied to my Rhino 3 license number. I am trying to figure out if I can still use the plugin after upgrading to Rhino 8.
A v3 plugin is not going to work in V8.
What even is the plug-in?
The license number will be different.
Upgrading to Rhino 8 does not remove previous versions of Rhino. You can have both Rhino 8 and Rhino 3 available. This assumes your system can run both Rhino 3 and Rhino 8. I have both Rhino 4 and Rhino 8 (as well as Rhino 5, Rhino 6, Rhino 7 and Rhino 9 WIP) on my systems.
The plugin is Phaser Hydrostatics and Stability Engine for Rhinoceros. I have used it since 2003 and have many archived designs with Phaser calculation packages. It works very well to this day. To replicate it with new software would cost many thousands of dollars.
Thanks David. I use a stand-alone XP machine for archival programs like Phaser, FEA and so forth. I have Rhino 5 on a 13-year-old machine used for more recent work. Now I have a new machine and will move my Rhino 5 license to it before upgrading to Rhino 8. I will leave the Rhino 3 with Phaser on my old XP machine. Thanks for the help.
