I’ve noticed that if i unroll a curve from a surface and then try to ‘Flow along surface’ back it doesn’t match the original one.
Original curve is shown in red and the blue curve is the one I maped back with flow along surface.
OK, good - the reason this works better is that the UV of the 3d surface is reproduced on the unrolled one so that objects can be mapped back - the process is less good in some ways than the one used in UnrollSrf but it is handy for your process. (It is the old version, V4, of UnrollSrf, btw)
