Unrecognized Objects

Hi,

I’m struggling with a bug. I sent my script to my team colleagues, and when they open it, an error occurs indicating that Grasshopper didn’t recognize the basic components - Volume and Area. In the script they are white, but there is no problem to add these components to the canvas.

Are they using 8?

No, everyone is using Rhino 7, but I think the Rhino 7 update might be the issue.

I have updated Rhino to the newest version, while others are using the previous one. When I opened a file saved in the previous Rhino version, the Area component had an “OLD” icon. That’s why I think it’s a version issue.

However, I don’t think it’s normal that the Area component suddenly stops working after a small version update.

I don’t know If update will fix this issue yet, because we need to wait for the update by administrator.

You certainly must use the old one. you could have it using # in the search bar
In R7

Hi Aleksander -

The components were changed in Rhino 8. Users then requested that this change was also applied to Rhino 7.

I’m running the latest version of Rhino V7 on macOS
Version 7 (7.37.24107.15002, 2024-04-16)

I still get this when I open a grasshopper file with Volume and Area components that was created with Rhino V8.

These components show up on the grasshopper canvas as white boxes.

Also, when I try to access older components in the search box by double-clicking the grasshopper canvas or hitting the spacebar Rhino crashes as soon as I type “#a” (or “#” followed by any character). I have uploaded a couple of crash reports from this.
