I import a lot of files and every now and then part of a model or the whole model will look like the attached image. Just the interior is messed up. I click on analyze normals and it is not clear how they are pointing. I end up using another format to import and most of the times that will work. This image was an obj import and obj works most of the time but not always. Does anyone have a trick to clean up a Normal Problem?
The arrows are always the same size on screen so I think you just need to zoom in close to the object to see how they relate to the thing.

When I flip the normals nothing happens. I have zoomed in and the normals are erratic. Shaded view on the pic.
Hmm - try RebuildMeshNormals. Can you export that thing and post it?

RebuildMeshNormals did not improve it.
Looks like all the faces are duplicates (Check command) - does this come from a lightwave (.lwo) file perhaps? Anyway, ExtractDupliacteMesh faces, then delete one of the meshes that result, and UnifyMeshNormals…
any better?

That got it! Awesome. This model was bought so not sure what modeler made it.
