Units and Scale problem

Hi everyone,

I have a question that might seem basic, but I can’t seem to figure it out. When drawing an architectural plan in Rhino, I get confused about whether I should set the file units in meters or millimeters. For example, if I set the units to meters and draw a square that is 30 m × 30 m, how should I handle the layout? Should the model space and layout space use the same units?

When I try to set the viewport scale to 1:200, it doesn’t work as expected — I have to set it as 1:0.2 instead.

Thank you very much for any clarification.

Layout scale is measured in [number of layout units]/[number of model units]. If you have meters in model space and millimeters in layout space, then a layout scale of 1:0.2 means “1 millimeter of layout space per 0.2 meters of model space”.
