Understanding the Logic behind this form

Hi all,

I am trying to parametrize something based on Eero Lunden’s Project and having trouble understanding the logic behind it, and hoped someone could point me in the right direction.

There are some reoccurring shapes and there’s clearly some kind of pattern to it.
Thought it might have something to do with an iso-surface morphology maybe?
(looks like the surface is continuous inside the building as well as though it’s some kind of a distorted gyroid).

attached is a sketch.
I worked with a rectangular grid, placing random points to locate the windows and drawing splines around them. But it seems to me that the splines in the original example derive from something more systematic (as well as the depth of every patch).
