Unable to trim surface made of pixelated surface

Having carefully trimmed my way thrpugh a complex object I see this item which had been used to trim the surface under it, still has a surface as base under it, or is it ? its a sort of pixelated mess still there.

Selecting the walls of the item to trim a hole in that sheet it wont trim that pixelated mess away.

so is that an optical illusion, is it ok to join it to that base sheet ?

The object which that forms a part of doesnt seem healthy unless that is a decent hole !

Hello- no idea how it got this way but you can DupBorder and then PlanarSrf on what you have and just replace the surface with the new one.
