Unable to move referenced layers

That’s correct. You can’t edit referenced files.

OK,
I can place a referenced layer inside a parent.
And I can’t put this referenced layer back outside of its parent.

I have the same problem.

Download these files:
WorksessionA.rws (560 Bytes)
File 1.3dm (1.6 MB)
File 2.3dm (1.5 MB)

Open Worksession A. File 1 will be opened as the active file, and file 2 as a reference file.

Move File 2 under Layer 1 in File 1. This can be done the same as moving any other layer.

File 2 cannot be moved.

Workaround to move the reference file back to the top level:

In Worksession:

Select the reference file which has been moved and make it the active file.

Make another file the active file.

Close Worksession

@Wim This should qualify as a bug which needs fixing.
