Unable to Boolean Union

Hello. I have put so much time into my ring but I cannot get the shank and top platform with bezel to Boolean Union. They both say they are closed. I have scaled them up and down and tilted them but cannot get to to play nice. I have returned them to their original positions.

Also the decorative squiggle won’t Boolean either; I realize it is open but even when I tried patch and cap I couldn’t get it to Boolean to the shank.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello - the two main bits do not intersect, as the file opens -

I am not sure what you have in mind…

For the squiggly things, it looks like you have forced edges to join, possibly using JoinEdge is that correct?

Apart from that, I would make these in the full round, and let them fully intersect the shank, not try to lay them onto the shank exactly.

Hi Pascal,

Thank you for taking a look.

I originally left the shank whole and tried to drop the platform/bezel straight down but I couldn’t get them to boolean union. Someone suggested I trim the top part of the shank down and simply drop the platform/bezel straight down. That is where I am now. I simply want to seat the platform/bezel onto the shank; it’s ok if it drops below my trim a little but I would like to maintain the full opening. Any thoughts?

Originally I had a full squiggle that I wanted to flow along surface (around the whole band) but I couldn’t get it to flow. Someone suggested I divide my squiggle then flow that along the surface then polar array. That is what I did but I could ever get a complete flow. Since I didn’t want it all the way around anyway I abandoned that idea and ended the squiggle where I added the spheres. Any thoughts?

Hello - your part has some internal surfaces - here’s a section curve:

You need to remove all of those before proceeding.

How would I do that?
