Typing commands does not work randomly until new R8 session

Fresh on R8, randomly, the typing of commands on the keyboard does not work, nothing shows up. Both on laptop kb and external kb. Seems function keys work during that time. The fix is to restart Rhino a few times until it starts typing again.
Forgot to mention, I’m not using the commands dialog permanent open as it is a waste of space. And it also randomly refuses to move when I have it open.

Even though typing commands won’t work, in the GH window, dbl clicking to search shows the typing from the kb.

Also, just want to express my desire for a consistent Rhino Win to Mac behaviour. Even the optionsimport file extension changed so need to setup everything from scratch on R8 Mac.
I’m stuck using Rhino Mac next to my Win Mac due so some libraries only working on Mac and working on the Mac Rhino is such a pain due to interface and behavioural changes.

R8 Win install was a pleasure, picked up all the settings from R7. Rhino8 on Mac started vanilla, nothing picked up from R7.

Can you share a screenshot of your setup?
Does this also happen if you work in a default setup?

Pls run _SystemInfo in Rhino 8 and post back the results

Hello,
attaching files, as you see it in the pic, the command pane stuck in the middle of the rhino app, won’t move at all, until I force quite rhino. Now, on this session, typing works and shows up in that pane. But it is random when it stops. I could not figure out a connection. If I fiddle with the command pane, close it, move it, at some point it will top moving at all. Impossible to work like this.
Oh, interesting, I cannot upload files. I get “Sorry, an error has occured” error.

I would first like to know if you have issues using the default setup. If you reset to the default Window Layout, do you see any anomalies?

Next, note that you can also hide the command panel without pulling it of with the icon in the lower left of the screen.

I went to “Appearance” and clicked restore defaults, it did not change anything visually. I could not replicate the missing keyboard typing today, the mac only went to sleep. Also , it seems you cannot hide the command pane at all, as far as I can tell. Even if I click the little sidebar hide button, the command pane pops up as soon as I type something. This is quite disfunctional, why would someone want this behaviour I don’t understand. On Win Rhino I can type away blindly without having to look at the command bar and stuff just works. I can model in fullscreen with nothing else than my model and pointer on the screen, typing stuff away. On Mac Rhino, the command pane is taking so much unneeded real estate off the screen.

I will write back if the typing stops appearing again. But the command pane still gets stuck if dragged way from the sidebar. I type, close it a few times and then I cannot move it away anymore, need to close Rhino.

That’s for colors
I mean Window > Window Layouts > Default

For now the thing you need to do is:
Options > General > Command Window > Use command options dialog
