The WIP has started to display two notification panels on start up. The docked panel is part of my configuration, the floating panel is the newcomer and is superfluous.
Hi Jeremy -
That’s not happening here, but it looks like @martinsiegrist also sees this?
At any rate, have you tried closing that superfluous instance and then saving your custom window layout once more?
-wim
No @wim I don’t see this. I just also think the additional notification panel is superfluous.
In general I’m not sure what I should think of the driver update recommendation.
I keep my NVidia drivers up to date and NVidia sends me a notification email when a new driver is available for my setup. I’m pretty sure my 528.49 driver is the latest I can install yet Rhino tells me an update is recommended.
Hi Wim,
I’ve tried closing the superfluous window and restarting Rhino and it doesn’t come back. However it will reappear on a Rhino startup later. I’m wondering whether it is specific to the first startup of the day and will monitor for that and advise you.
But I had both a WIP update and then a Windows update today and it reappeared on Rhino startup after the Windows update reboot.
Hi Jeremy -
I just installed a new build-of-the-day here and had the Notifications panel (a single instance) appear among my panels in my custom window layout. I’ve seen that happen once a month or so. It will appear often for a few days and then stay away. I’ve now exited and restart Rhino several times but the panel doesn’t appear.
Does your custom window layout include one instance of the Notifications panel?
-wim
I posted on this previously for R7: R7 SRC recommends video driver update although running latest driver. If you click on the detail button you can tell Rhino not to show the message again. Unfortunately the suppression is tied to the Rhino release so when you install an update will get the message again and have to repeat the instruction. You also have to do it separately for each card, even if they use the same driver.
Do you mean like this?
Yes.

That’s my standard setup.
If I recall correctly, I think I’ve seen a second docked notification tab appear in the set and dragged it out to get rid of. It’s a while back and I don’t remember which version of Rhino, so I don’t know whether it is another manifestation of the same issue or a different one.
Hi @wim,
I started the WIP this morning and the extra Notifications panel appeared. I closed the WIP without any other interaction and restarted it and the extra panel reappeared. I closed the panel and restarted the WIP and this time the extra panel did not appear. So it seems the panel does get initiated by the first start of the day, and also that it remains through startups until it is closed, after which it doesn’t reappear that day.
A little more detail on its appearance: when starting the WIP I see the splash screen first, then the extra notification panel appears before the main Rhino window with its docked panel.
Regards
Jeremy
Hi @wim,
I’m still seeing two notification panels in the latest WIP. I just noticed that I actually have 5 containers for the Notifications panel, 4 of which have the same name:
Apart from the issue of how they get created, should that name duplication even be possible?
